United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition
In 2017, Brazil was the first country to make commitments to address all forms of malnutrition, considering the role of food systems, under the United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016-2015). To accelerate the achievement of commitments, since 2018, with the support of PAHO/WHO and FAO, Brazil coordinates the Action Network on Food Guides based on the level of food processing.
The Network of Guides aims to support countries in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of food guides that incorporate the dimension of food processing to induce public policies and promote healthy eating. The countries that are currently part of the Network are: Argentina, Brazil (chair), Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico and Uruguay (co-chair).
