Gonorrhoea is a major public health challenge today, due to the high incidence of infections accompanied by a dwindling number of treatment options. The objective of this global action plan is to control the spread and minimize the impact of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Neisseria gonorrhoeae (N. gonorrhoeae).
This document is targeted at a number of stakeholders including national- and international-level policy-makers, programme managers, health-care providers, laboratory technicians, multilateral organizations, researchers and donors. The document aims to give guidance on ways to contain the spread of AMR in N. gonorrhoeae (and it is designed to be implemented in conjunction with broader national and international strategies for the prevention and control of sexually transmitted infections.
