About SAFER
In this webinar, the new WHO led initiative and technical package will be presented, outlining 5 cost effective policies that countries can take up to reduce harmful use of alcohol. Each letter stands for a strategic action:
- Strengthen restrictions on alcohol availability;
- Advance and enforce drink driving counter measures;
- Facilitate access to screening, brief interventions and treatment;
- Enforce bans or comprehensive restrictions on alcohol advertising, sponsorship, and promotion;
- Raise prices on alcohol through excise taxes and pricing policies.
-
The initiative is part of the work of WHO towards the implementation of the global alcohol strategy for reducing harmful use of alcohol.
