United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition
In 2017, Brazil was the first country to make commitments to tackle all forms of malnutrition, considering the role of food systems, within the framework of the United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016-2015). To accelerate the achievement of commitments, since 2018, with the support of PAHO/WHO and FAO, Brazil has coordinated the Action Network on Strategies to Reduce Salt Consumption for the Prevention and Control of Cardiovascular Diseases in the Americas. The network is a regional forum for technical and political cooperation and discussion among countries in the Americas. Its objective is to support, through the exchange of experiences, the elaboration, improvement, implementation and evaluation of strategies to reduce salt consumption aiming at the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases and the fulfillment of the commitments established in the Global NCD Action Plan.
