Regarding fraudulent messages about PAHO/WHO and COVID-19

Fraudulent messages are being shared about the new coronavirus COVID-19, claiming to be from the Pan American Health Organization. The majority of these are via email but others are shared on websites or social media platforms.

Many of these messages request information under the false premise that funds, or other benefits, will be received by the Organization.

PAHO wishes to warn the public that these messages do not come from PAHO and are in no way related to the Organization’s projects or initiatives. PAHO recommends that anyone in receipt of these types of message verifies their authenticity before responding.

The Organization recommends that no personal information be sent to anyone who claims to issue funds or grants on behalf of PAHO.

For official information for the public, please check the PAHO website and the WHO website. For more information on COVID-19, visit www.paho.org/coronavirus. The Organization’s official social media accounts are: Twitter (@pahowho), Facebook (@PAHO-WHO), Instagram (@OPSPAHO) y Linkedin (pan-american-health-organization).
