Washington D.C., October 2024 (PAHO) - The Consolidated Regional and Global Information on Events Suspected to be Attributable to Vaccination or Immunization (ESAVI) and Other Updates Bulletin reaches its fiftieth (50th) issue.
This newsletter arose as part of the support of the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) to the regulatory systems of the Americas region in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, to technically support the proper introduction and surveillance of the safety and efficacy of vaccines and drugs.
The Quality and Regulation of Medicines and Health Technologies (QR) Unit of PAHO's Department of Innovation, Access to Medicines and Health Technologies (IMT) prepares this bulletin and is grateful for the invaluable contributions of all those who have contributed to the success of this work since its inception, highlighting the constant support of the Department of Health Emergencies and the PAHO Special Program for Comprehensive Immunization.
The first newsletter was published on February 11, 2021; initially on a weekly basis and with content specifically about COVID-19 vaccines. During 2024, and after 46 issues, the scope was expanded to include other vaccines of regional interest.
This initiative was financially supported by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), as part of the project Strengthening local manufacturing capacities to improve equitable access to vaccines in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The IMT department and its QR unit remain committed to continue to provide consolidated regional and global information on the ESAVIs and other updates of interest on the efficacy and safety of vaccines used in our region.
