Seville, Spain, June 2024 - The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), through its Department of Innovation, Access to Medicines and Health Technologies (IMT), and the Health Technology Assessment Network of the Americas (RedETSA), for which PAHO serves as the secretariat, actively participated in the HTAi 2024 meeting.
This year's event focused on the opportunities and challenges to grow valuable networks for HTA and how collaboration can support the evaluation of innovative health solutions through peer-to-peer exchange.
From PAHO and RedETSA different panels were proposed, three of them were accepted and developed with the participation of several members of our Network:
- Panel 1: Collaboration between Health Technology Assessment networks for the sustainability of health systems in Latin America.
- Panel 2: Global collaboration to strengthen Health Technology Assessment: experiences of international initiatives and networks.
- Panel 3: Country experiences in Health Technology Assessment as a key tool to support access to innovation.
In addition, PAHO members - among them the acting head of the AH Unit and Regional Advisor for Health Technology Assessment and Access, Alexandre Lemgruber; as well as members of RedETSA were invited to participate as speakers or moderators in at least fourteen presentations and panels; as well as in three workshops, among other activities
The broad participation of PAHO and RedETSA in this international event was a crucial opportunity to strengthen links with partners from around the world, such as INAHTA, EuroScan, REDETS (Spain) and HTAi itself.
Founded in 2003, HTAi is a global organization that brings together institutions from around the world and is dedicated to promoting the importance and use of Health Technology Assessment (HTA). It is worth noting that earlier this year PAHO/RedETSA and HTAi signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize and strengthen their collaborative work in HTA.
