Montevideo. August 30, 2022. On August 25, Advisors from the Latin American Center for Perinatology - Women and Reproductive Health (CLAP/WR) of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) visited Santo Tomás Hospital in Panama City.
The objective of the visit was to discuss inter-institutional lines of action, as well as existing challenges and needs.
In particular, they exchanged on the reports generated through the Perinatal Information System (SIP) and how to improve the quality of data. On this subject, multiple meetings were held between the technical teams of each institution in order to draw up a roadmap that will allow progress to be made and optimize existing resources, according to the needs and possibilities of the hospital.
Furthermore, they discussed how the hospital functions as a sentinel center of the CLAP MUSA Network and how CLAP/WR can support the continuous improvement of care for women and, particularly, for women in situation of abortion.
During the visit, it was also presented the range of courses available through CLAP/WR on PAHO's virtual training campus and an invitation was extended to participate and disseminate the training opportunities.
Representatives from both institutions continue to exchange on the next steps to be taken and to contribute to the creation of a plan of action
