PAHO ECC briefed the UN staff in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean on the current Zika virus outbreak. The briefing aimed at providing the evidence based information to all the UN staff and to encircle all the UN agencies to work together on assisting the countries of the Eastern Caribbean in reducing the mosquito breeding sites which is the source of the vector for the Zika virus.

The UN Resident Coordinator thanked PAHO for its leadership and for ensuring that all the UN family is aware of Zika as an informed community can better contribute to prevention of this new infection affecting the Caribbean.
