From 7th to 10th June 2022, a joint visit was conducted between the Immunization Unit (FPL/IM) and the Influenza Surveillance Unit (PHE/IHM) in order to review the indicators and procedures for sentinel surveillance of ARI in the country, conduct a workshop for data analysis and obtain national estimates of effectiveness of vaccines against COVID-19, and present the tool for the evaluation of the impact of influenza vaccination and conduct an exercise with national data.
Technical meetings were held with professionals from the Ministry of Health, the Costa Rican Social Security Fund and the national reference laboratory for respiratory viruses (INCIENSA). In addition, visits were made to the Maximiliano Peralta Jiménez hospital in Cartago and to the national reference laboratory for respiratory viruses (INCIENSA).
