PAHO approves CCHD cooperation mechanism for Organ Donation and Transplants in Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Peru

Washington, D.C., October 2024 (PAHO) - The Pan American Health Organization approved the CCHD cooperation mechanism for the Strengthening of the technical and operational capacity of national donation and transplants programs in Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru, with the PAHO/WHO collaborating center in Argentina, El Instituto Nacional Central Único Coordinador de Ablación e Implante (Incucai), as the backbone of support, under the leadership of the Department of Innovation, Access to Medicines and Health Technologies (IMT) and the PAHO Representative office in Argentina.

This project is expected to strengthen the capacities of health teams and national donation and transplant programs, including the operation of the system, installed capacities and information systems in the four countries.

This proposal is part of PAHO's commitment to advance the implementation of the strategic lines and objectives agreed by the Ministers of Health of the Region in the Strategy and Plan of Action on Donation and Equitable Access to Organ, Tissue and Cell Transplant 2019-2030 - CD57/11 and, therefore, supports its implementation and sustainability over time.
