Belize City, Belize, October 18, 2022 (PAHO) - Through the EU-Funded Health Sector Support Programme Belize Project, PAHO/WHO Belize and the Ministry of Health and Wellness conducted a two-day workshop with the various health sectors to review the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Program and to conduct a gap analysis and establish priorities for implementation.
Dr. Marion Bullock DuCasse, from the PAHO/WHO Health Emergencies Caribbean Sub-Region, facilitated the workshop and guided the participants in developing an action plan in keeping with Belize’s commitments and priorities at the national, sub-regional, regional, and global levels.
Participants include the CEO of the KHMHA - Mrs. Chandra Nisbet Cansino, the Belize Red Cross, Southern Emergency Services, Belize Medical Associates, Central Building Authority, UNICEF, BERT, NEMO, as well as Regional Managers, Administrators, and Primary Care Coordinators from the different regions and health facilities, participated in active discussion and provided feedback on health emergencies and disaster management in the health sector.
