The Bahamas Ministry of Health and Wellness is conducting a series of half-day training workshops for healthcare providers on the use of SIP+ (SIP Plus), the latest version of the Perinatal Information System (SIP) developed by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). PAHO/WHO has been supporting the process of implementation of SIP+ and congratulates the Ministry on getting to this stage.  This training, held at the Bahamas Baptist University College (BBUC), was designed to introduce healthcare professionals to the SIP+ platform, which will be used to capture perinatal records in a digital format. The training also aimed to equip participants with the skills needed to implement new technologies within the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) and its locations throughout The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

The workshop was superbly led by Mrs. Moika Rolle-Moss, IS4H Training Specialist at the Ministry of Health & Wellness. Mrs. Rolle-Moss was highly knowledgeable and engaging, and she was ably assisted by her team from the IS4H department.

The participants at the workshop were responsive and fully engaged based on feedback garnered at the end of the half-day session. They expressed an eagerness to utilize SIP+ in their day-to-day work.

SIP+ is an essential tool for improving maternal and child health outcomes. SIP Plus empowers healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, data-driven care for pregnant women and newborns. The system also facilitates the ability to analyze data from clinical modules, allowing for the automatic generation of reports on demographic indicators, disease burden, interventions, and results.

PAHO/ WHO is proud to support The Bahamas in implementing SIP Plus and remains committed to providing ongoing technical cooperation to strengthen the country’s health system. Together, we are working towards a future where every mother and newborn receives the highest standard of care.
