Managua, November 11, 2022 (PAHO/WHO).- Computer equipment donated by PAHO, with funding from the United States of America, has enabled Nicaragua to update vital processes in its healthcare system.
As part of the Nicaragua Ministry of Health’s 2022 Digital Transformation Project , the country received IT equipment for its Family and Community Health Expanded Program of Immunization Information System Project..
“PAHO is very proud to support this digital transformation process, which has a great impact on the Nicaraguan population," said Ana Treasure, the PAHO/WHO Nicaragua Representative.
During the handover ceremony, Treasure emphasized the importance of donating the equipment, which will allow for health services to be streamlined thanks to the implementation of locally-developed digital tools .
The Minister of Health, Martha Reyes, thanked the United States for providing funding for the equipment.
Minister Reyes also highlighted the benefits of the equipment for the153 municipalities of the country, where various actions are being developed at both the primary and hospital care-level to improve digital filing, including the vaccination registry.
The equipment provided is valued at US$355,000.00 and consists of:
- 153 50¨ televisions
- 332 UPS of 500 VA
- 2 wall brackets
- 153 cameras for videoconferencing
- 153 IP telephones for videoconferencing
- Cables and other implements
- 20 laptops
- 20 laptop backpacks
- 20 wireless computer mouses
This project is currently being set up in local health care centers in Matagalpa, Boaco, Chontales, and Carazo.
