The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), in collaboration with various United Nations agencies and the Inter-American System, worked on this first series of regional reports that will be constantly updated, highlighting the importance of joint action by different actors to implement the Decade and favor healthy aging through evidence-based information.
The series of reports, divided into four parts, covers different dimensions of population aging, the demographic situation and the state of health in the Region. In addition, it addresses each of the areas of action of the Decade; and, finally, special articles related to emerging and little-discussed issues regarding the older person population.
Accurate and reliable information are necessary to advance in strategies that consolidate the objectives of the Decade for Healthy Aging (2021-2030), and to build actions and policies at promoting healthy aging of all populations.
During the launch event, a web page of the series was also presented, with the first installment of reports, related resources, as well as a space for all interested stakeholders, including older people, to make contributions and suggestions.
We invite you to be part of the Decade of Healthy Aging in the Americas! Participate building knowledge with the reports and engage with us by leaving feedback on the webpage.
