About the course
The theoretical course "Risk communications and community engagement in health emergencies" is available through the Virtual Campus of Public Health and is part of PAHO's Health Emergencies Department efforts to update and strengthen the risk communication and community engagement capacity for the preparedness, mitigation and response to health emergencies.
The curriculum is based on materials developed by PAHO/WHO, other agencies of the United Nations System, and academic authors. This course provides a foundation on the importance of risk communication to respond to health emergencies, through the knowledge and application of strategies that empower communities.
Who is it for?
This online course is especially aimed at people working in communications and health promotion areas of health authorities at the national and local levels, and other organizations working in health emergency response, but its content is of great importance to anyone working in public health.
Duration and modality
This is a self-paced course of 7 modules. In total, it is estimated to take seven hours to complete the course.
The webinar will be conducted in English. French interpretation will be provided.
