World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day

Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and other poverty-related infections are known in the Region of the Americas as "neglected infectious diseases" (NIDs). NIDs are a diverse group of conditions that are widespread in the world’s poorest regions, where water safety, sanitation and access to health care are substandard. World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day was established in 2020 by the World Health Assembly and takes place on January 30.
