Environmental and Public Health Laboratories in Latin America and the Caribbean

To improve the health and well-being of the LAC countries, drinking water and sanitation is necessary (SDG 6), to recognize it as such it is necessary to have accurate, timely and comparable primary information.

For this, laboratories must have the capacities and facilities that allow them to generate information so that decisions and actions can be taken for the preservation and improvement of water resources, the adequate treatment of water and for its final disposal after its use.

The water quality information will allow compliance with quality standards that avoid putting public and environmental health at risk. For this reason, this survey will serve to know the situation of the laboratories at the Regional level, to propose actions to improve them.
