- 21 December 2024: The United States IHR National Focal Point (NFP) notified PAHO/WHO of the human detection of influenza A(H5N1) virus, one case, in Iowa, United States, in a person exposed to influenza A(H5N1) virus while working at a poultry facility. This was the first case reported by the state of Iowa.

- 20 December 2024: The United States IHR National Focal Point (NFP) notified PAHO/WHO of the human detection of influenza A(H5N1) virus, one case, in Wisconsin, United States, in a person exposed to influenza A(H5N1) virus while working at a poultry facility. This was the first case reported by the state of Wisconsin.

This represents the 27th case in California.
- 15 November 2024: The United States IHR National Focal Point (NFP) notified PAHO/WHO of six additional confirmed cases of influenza A(H5), five in California and one in Oregon. The five cases reported in California had developed symptoms while working at commercial dairy cattle farms, where cows are presumed to be infected with Influenza A(H5N1); these represent the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th cases in California. The case in Oregon developed illness performing decontamination operations at a facility where HPAI A(H5N1) in poultry was detected. This case represents the first case reported in Oregon.
- 14 November 2024: The Canada IHR National Focal Point (NFP) reported to PAHO/WHO a confirmed human case of avian influenza A(H5N1) detected in the province of British Columbia (B.C), representing the first case detected in Canada.
- 7 November 2024: PAHO published the Public health risk assessment associated with the potential occurrence of zoonotic avian influenza A(H5N1) clade 2.3.4.4b in Latin-American and the Caribbean. - 6 November 2024: The United States IHR National Focal Point (NFP) notified PAHO/WHO of two additional cases of influenza A(H5), one in the state of Washington who developed symptoms while performing depopulation operations at a facility where HPAI A(H5N1) has been detected in poultry and the other in California who developed symptoms while working at a commercial dairy farm where cows were presumed infected with influenza A(H5N1).

- 31 October 2024: The United States IHR National Focal Point (NFP) notified PAHO/WHO of four additional Influenza A(H5N1) human cases in Washington, United States. All of them exposed to highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A(H5N1) while performing disposal and depopulation operations at a poultry facility in Washington.
- 26 October 2024: The United States IHR National Focal Point (NFP) notified PAHO/WHO of two additional confirmed cases of influenza A(H5), one in the state of Washington and the other in the state of California. The case in Washington developed illness while performing disposal and depopulation operations at a facility where HPAI A(H5N1) virus was detected in poultry and the case in California developed illness while working at a cattle farm where influenza A(H5N1) had been detected in cows. These represent the 6th confirmed case in Washington and the 16th in California.
- 25 October 2024: The United States IHR National Focal Point (NFP) notified PAHO/WHO of three additional confirmed cases of influenza A(H5) in the state of Washington, United States, all developed illness while performing disposal and depopulation operations at a facility where HPAI A(H5N1) virus clade 2.3.4.4b, was detected in poultry. These are the 3rd, 4th, 5th confirmed human cases in Washington state.
- 24 October 2024: The United States IHR National Focal Point (NFP) notified PAHO/WHO of two confirmed cases of influenza A(H5) in the state of Washington, United States, both developed illness while performing disposal and depopulation operations at a facility where HPAI A(H5N1) virus clade 2.3.4.4b, genotype D1.1, was detected in poultry. These were the first two cases in Washington, all occurring after exposure to infected poultry.
