An Inspiring Story: Daysi Núñez, Saving Lives Drop by Drop in Honduras

At the PAHO Honduras Representation, Daysi Núñez, a woman with an 'infectious' smile and an even bigger heart, has dedicated 25 years of her life to the service of public health. As a Community Manager, Daysi has not only witnessed the needs around her, but has also taken the initiative to make a tangible difference in people's lives.

A life-saving act of love

One day, while familiarizing herself with PAHO/WHO programs, Daysi came across an initiative that moved her: blood donation. Upon discovering that a single unit of blood can save up to three lives, Daysi did not hesitate to become a Volunteer Blood Donor.

Since then, Daysi has made donating blood a regular act of love, donating regularly over the years. With every drop of blood she donates, Daysi not only provides a chance of survival to someone in need, but also becomes a beacon of hope for families and communities that depend on this vital resource.

The impact of just one person

Through her ongoing commitment to blood donation, she has been able to save the lives of some 132 people. Each of these individuals represents a story of struggle, hope and recovery, a testament to the transformative power of donated blood.

A Call to Action: Donate Blood, Donate Life

Daysi's story is an inspiring reminder that each of us has the potential to save lives. In Honduras, as in the rest of the world, World Blood Donor Day is celebrated on June 14. This day reminds us of the importance of voluntary and altruistic blood donation to ensure the availability of safe blood for transfusions. It should be noted that for this commemoration Daysi is also a fervent organizer, for all these reasons she has earned a recognition that will be delivered in the scheduled events.

Let's join Daysi in her mission to save lives. Donate blood and become a hero for someone in need. Remember, donating blood is sharing life.
