Find, Cure, Prevent all
Tuberculosis (TB) continues to be a public health problem. In the Americas, 1 in 4 people with TB are not diagnosed. To close this gap and accelerate efforts towards the elimination of TB, a paradigm shift in the response is needed, prioritizing active search and treatment of both the disease and TB infection, allowing us to stay one step ahead of the epidemic.
It is necessary to increase the active search prioritizing the most vulnerable groups of people such as people living in poverty, migrants, people deprived of liberty, people with HIV, people with diabetes, people with immunosuppression, among other risk groups, as well as population areas with a high TB burden.(1)
In order to accelerate the implementation of strategies, technologies and innovations towards the elimination of TB in the Region of the Americas, it is proposed to create this space for learning, dissemination and exchange of experiences and best practices, in relation to the active search for TB cases, the use of technologies and innovations such as chest X-ray and CAD, expansion of preventive TB treatment, with emphasis on population in vulnerable conditions in the region of the Americas.
