Tegucigalpa, July 8, 2024. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Health (SESAL), with technical support from the Latin American Center for Perinatology, Women and Reproductive Health (CLP/WR) through the Information Systems Technician, Luis Mainero and PAHO/WHO Honduras, meetings were held for the implementation of the Perinatal Information System Plus, within the framework of the digital transformation in health linked to the country's Electronic Health Record.

The Perinatal Information System (SIP) is a standard for the registration of care in health services, based on Primary Health Care (PHC) and Integrated Health Services Networks (IHSN).

SIP Plus provides real-time maternal and perinatal information, facilitating the collection, processing and analysis of data related to maternal, neonatal and reproductive health, for timely decision making.

In addition, it offers automatic reporting of demographic indicators, disease burden, interventions and outcomes.

SESAL in partnership with the National Registry of Persons (RNP) and the National Institute of Statistics (INE), already have the Birth Certificate in the SIP Plus system, a milestone in Honduras, as the second country in Latin America.

Within the framework of the Canada project, the aim is to improve the health of women, newborns and adolescents by showing inequalities in health care for the most vulnerable population.

SESAL is leading the way towards a more efficient health care, based on data and digital transformation, demonstrating its commitment to the health of the Honduran population.
