Between November 13 and 16, in São Paulo, BIREME brings together the VHL Network in Latin America and the Caribbean to discuss the renewal of the VHL Model in line with the new "Information for Action in Health" Strategy.
São Paulo, November 8, 2023 (BIREME/PAHO/WHO) - Members of the Latin American and Caribbean Health Information Network, VHL Network, will meet between November 13 and 16, in São Paulo, Brazil, to participate in a series of four technical meetings promoted by BIREME. The activities are part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the VHL, with the aim to discuss key issues for strengthening and renewing the VHL Model in line with the new "BIREME Strategy 2023-2025 - Information for Action in Health".
The program begins on November 13 and 14 with the "Renewing the VHL Model" Workshop. On these days, coordinators and focal points of the VHL Network will be able to learn details of the BIREME Strategy 2023-2025, in a presentation by Director João Paulo Souza, and the results of a situational analysis of the VHL conducted by Verônica Abdala and Ana Cyntia Baraldi, respectively, Manager of Information Products and Services at BIREME and Advisor on Partnerships and Special Projects. The program includes group dynamics to discuss the following topics: VHL essential functions; governance; bibliographic control and user experience.
On November 15 and 16, three meetings will be held simultaneously:
- The TCIM Americas Network meeting, coordinated by João Paulo Souza and Verônica Abdala, to define the Strategic Planning of the TCIM Americas VHL for the years 2024-2025;
- MEDCARIB Network meeting, with BIREME's IT Infrastructure Coordinator, Márcia Barreto, to draw up the action plan for the development of the Caribbean VHL;
- Technical cooperation meeting with Infomed Cuba, with the Digital Solutions and Emerging Technologies Development Manager, Sandra Janostiac, to prospect innovation opportunities for the VHL, LILACS and DeCS products and services.
