PAHO's 51st Directing Council Comes to a Close

The 51st Directing Council this morning concluded its work with the adoption of various strategies and plans of action plans and with discussions on several progress reports and other health issues in the Region.

The 51st Directing Council this morning concluded its work with the adoption of various strategies and plans of action plans and with discussions on several progress reports and other health issues in the Region.


 

The Director of PAHO, Dr. Mirta Roses, praised the work of the PAHO's Office of Governing Bodies over its hard work and coordination efforts during the meeting of the Directing Council. Minutes later, she summoned the members of the Executive Committee to meet to establish the annual work program.

The 149th Session of the Executive Committee, which named its new officers and decided the agenda of the governing bodies of PAHO in 2012, also closed today.

The Executive Committee resolved that the meeting of the 28th Pan American Sanitary Conference and the 64th Session of Regional Committee of the World Health Organization for the Americas, will be held from 17 to 21 September, 2012.

Moreover, the Sixth Session of the Subcommittee on Program, Budget and Administration of the Executive Committee will be held from 14 to 16 March 2012.

Between 18 and 22 June next year the Executive Committee will meet to celebrate its 150th Session, according to a decision of the Executive Committee this morning.
