PAHO-WHO receives award during 49th Bahamian Independence Celebration

This is the second award that the Country Office received for the year.

Nassau, Bahamas (July 27th, 2022) – Staff at the PAHO-WHO Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Country Office was ecstatic to receive this national award and be recognized for their contributions to the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. The government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas highlighted the efforts, and lives, of those who selflessly worked to ensure the well-being of the public during one of the most challenging times in the world’s history. Honourees represented the public sectors, private sector, non-governmental organizations, and other international agencies.  

PAHO/WHO continues to support governments, in The Bahamas and throughout the region, with monitoring vaccination coverage, enhancing health services, implementing electronic immunization information systems, acquiring vaccines, and promoting public health messages to ensure no one’s health is left behind.
