Washington, DC, September 26, 2024 (PAHO/WHO) - The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Health Technology Assessment Network of the Americas (RedETSA) held Webinar No. 43 of the RedETSA Webinar Program entitled:
“Methods and application of adaptive health technology assessment (aHTA)”.
The objective of this webinar was to describe the aHTA methods identified worldwide, present some examples of how aHTA is used in different countries, and the benefits and barriers to aHTA implementation. More than 220 people from 27 countries participated.
At the opening of the Webinar, Alexandre Lemgruber, Acting Head of the Access to Medicines and Health Technologies Unit, celebrated having reached the 43rd Edition of the Webinar Program since the creation of the RedETSA in 2011 and highlighted the importance of continuing with these virtual spaces for open and free training of the Network.
The webinar included presentations by Cassandra Nemzoff, from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in the United Kingdom, Andres Pichon-Riviere from the Institute of Clinical and Health Effectiveness, from Argentina and Hugo Marín Piva, from the Costa Rican Social Security Fund. Methodological aspects were presented on the use of aHTA as an approach to carry out an HTA that adjusts to limitations such as time, data availability or the capacity of the countries. Likewise, the experience of applying aHTA methods from the perspective of Costa Rica was presented.
