The Pan American Health Organization and World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) donated forty hurricane preparedness kits to the Rotary Club of Nassau.

The Club’s Disaster Committee distributed the kits to families in the Kemp Road Community. Known for its resilience, this urban community faces a myriad of challenges with determination and neighbourly support. Equipping these families with emergency kits is important for their safety and well-being during a disaster.

According to PAHO/WHO, the following should be included in a hurricane preparedness kit:

-Prescribed medications for you and your family

-Personal documents

-A first aid kit

-Canned & non-perishable food items

-A portable radio, hand lantern, and extra batteries.

-70% alcohol-based gel solution.

As the 2024 hurricane season comes to an end, residents are encouraged to stay informed to accurate, reliable news updates as the season remains active.
