Public Hospital Authority, PAHO/WHO host World Blood Donor Day 2024

Donors are recognized on World Blood Donor Day.

The PAHO/WHO Country Office for The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands partnered with the Public Hospital Authority to celebrate World Blood Donor Day on June 14, 2024. Under the theme, "20 years of celebrating giving: Thank you, blood donors," a recognition ceremony was held at the new Blood Bank which included remarks by the PAHO Health Systems and Services Consultant on behalf of Dr. Boisson PAHO/WHO Representative. Seventy blood donors were honoured and presented with tokens of appreciation for their consistent blood donation.

Regular donors, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Johnson, gave as a married couple, a joint personal testimony highlighting their gratitude for the recognition and sharing their commitment and willingness to helping when called upon to donate blood for family, friends and anyone in need. A plea was made by event organizers for persons to come to the site to save a life by donating blood.
