The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency signed an agreement yesterday to jointly support the Ministry of Health of Peru in fighting tuberculosis (TB) in the country's capital, where 57% of all TB cases are concentrated.
Lima, Peru, 19 December 2014 (PAHO/WHO) — The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency signed an agreement yesterday to jointly support the Ministry of Health of Peru in fighting tuberculosis (TB) in the country's capital, where 57% of all TB cases are concentrated.
The accord seeks to strengthen TB prevention and control services in the Comas and Carabayllo districts, with a focus on TB-HIV coinfections and on coexisting TB and diabetes. It also seeks to improve diagnostic capacity and to address social conditions that favor the spread of TB.
