Christopher Murray, Director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, visited PAHO headquarters on Thursday, Jan. 19, to present preliminary findings from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study 2010. GBD 2010 combines the efforts of more than 800 researchers globally with the goal of measuring the impact of some 650 diseases, injuries and conditions, as well as risk factors. The study is being led by IHME in conjunction with Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Queensland, and the World Health Organization. Results from the study will be published in papers starting later this year and will be available on the IHME website.
