Montevideo, October 18, 2022. Edgar Iván Ortiz Lizcano, one of the co-chairs of the FIGO Cartagena 2022 Congress Organizing Committee and FIGO trustee for Latin America, said that this event reflects the organization's interest in having a global presence to work on women's health issues. In particular, he pointed out that the congress will be the setting for the meeting of "professionals of recognized prestige at a global level for their contributions to the development of the specialty, contributions that undoubtedly have an impact on the quality of the services we offer to women in our continent".
Regarding the participation of the Latin American Center for Perinatology - Women's and Reproductive Health (CLAP/WR) of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), he considered that "this is a leading institution in the region, responsible for advising governments on the implementation of public policies that promote best practices in favor of guaranteeing the sexual and reproductive rights of Latin American women". "The FIGO 2022 Congress will be an opportunity to learn about the technical, scientific and advocacy work carried out by CLAP/WR."
Ortiz also stated that those who participate in the congress will find an exceptional scientific program and that it is important to take advantage of this opportunity to share with experts that "will hardly meet again in a Latin American scenario in the short or medium term and to access the most updated evidence on issues related to comprehensive women's health". He also emphasized the variety of interactive session formats, which include plenary sessions, group sessions, practical workshops and working breakfasts with experts.
