Guyana receives shipment of 12, 000 doses of the US-made Pfizer vaccine, through COVAX mechanism donated by United States of America to boost immunization

GEORGETOWN, 14 July 202 – Guyana received 12,000 doses of COVID-19 US-made Pfizer vaccines through the COVAX Facility, a partnership between the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to ensure the equitable distribution of vaccines against COVID-19 globally. Representatives at the handover ceremony who received the COVAX vaccine were Hon. Frank Anthony Minister of Health, Sarah Lynch, US Ambassador, Dr. Janice Woolford, specialist, Family and Community Health, PAHO/WHO and Dr. Ertenisa Hamilton, Director, Primary Health Care, Ministry of Health.
