The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) Country Office of The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands welcomed international PAHO/WHO Consultants, Mrs. Kathryn Johnston, and Mr. German Esparza to assist The Bahamas Ministry of Health and Wellness in developing its National Infection Prevention and Control Programme and strengthening its Antimicrobial Resistance Programme in a five-day mission. Activities were conducted in the Microbiology Laboratory at the Princess Margaret Hospital and at the PAHO/WHO Country Office, bringing together participants from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the Public Hospitals Authority (PHA), and the Ministry of Agriculture to participate in meetings and discussions and to review current technology and practices. The mission has resulted in a list of recommendations that will continue to strengthen in-country capacity, some of which will be facilitated by the PAHO/WHO Country Office.
