Through the EU-funded Health Sector Support Programme Project, a PAHO/WHO Belize Mission team led by PWR Dr. Noreen Jack met with Dr. Julio Sabido (CEO, Ministry of Health and Wellness), Mrs. Narda Garcia (CEO, Office of the Prime Minister), Dr. Marco Tulio Mendez (Chairman, National Health Insurance) and key stakeholders as part of technical cooperation to strengthen universal health in Belize.
PAHO/WHO experts in governance, health services, and health financing functions facilitated a five-day mission to discuss and collect information on the proposed transformation of the health system towards universal health. This mission aims to assist national authorities in developing a proposal seeking to restructure and reorganize the health care system – the focus would be on re-defining the system's governance, financing, and health services functions.
