PAHO opens contest on best experiences in health promotion in cities, schools and universities in the Americas

Washington, D.C., 11 April 2017 (PAHO/WHO) - The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is inviting entries for a contest that will recognize outstanding health promotion practices developed by cities, schools, universities and institutions of higher education in the Americas.

The Significant Experiences in Health Promotion Contest will accept applications through May 12, 2017.

A total of 12 winning experiences will be selected in the following categories: health education with a comprehensive approach, working in a network, building knowledge in health promotion, and intersectoriality. Winners will receive recognition from PAHO, Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The contest is being organized by PAHO/WHO in collaboration with the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Health Promotion Managers (REDLACPROMSA), the Ibero-American Network of Health Promoting Universities (RIUPS), the Colombian Network of Health Promoting Universities (REDCUPS), and the Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN) of Chile.

Three PAHO/WHO Collaborating Centers are also supporting the contest: the Center for Studies, Research and Documentation on Healthy Cities (CEPEDOC) in Brazil, the PROINAPSA Institute of the Industrial University of Santander in Colombia, and the University of Puerto Rico.
