Singer Salomón Beda will donate royalties of the new version of his song “Pa’alante”, performed by 17 artists, to PAHO's response in the countries of the region.
Washington, DC, April 10, 2020 (PAHO) - The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Colombian singer Salomón Beda signed an agreement under which the artist donates the royalties of his musical theme, "Pa'alante" to activities that PAHO is executing in the region of the Americas to combat the pandemic of the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).
Artists from Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Chile, Puerto Rico, and the United States joined forces to record a new version of the song by Beda, called "Pa'alante", with the aim of raising funds for the response to the pandemic by COVID-19, under an initiative called #Volveranlosabrazos (The hugs will return). The version of the song will be available on digital music and video platforms (Spotify, Pandora, iTunes, among others), and the royalties obtained will be donated to PAHO.
The collaborators in the new version of “Pa'alante” are: Santiago Cruz, Sie7e, Telebit, Simon Grossman, Luz Pinos, Vicente Cifuentes, Marissa Mur, Mareh, Pilar Cabrera, Kanaku and el Tigre, Sebastián Romero, Alejandro and Maria Laura , Duina del Mar, Prime Numbers, Lorena Blume, Alejandro Roca Rey, and Matias Cella, who performed the musical mix. It is "a synchronized Pan American choir trying to help the most vulnerable," said Beda. The artists will also collaborate in spreading information about the disease among their followers.
In addition to raising funds, Beda added, “the song is perfect to give people courage and strength in these difficult times. But we also know that many people need more resources to survive this crisis, and that's why we decided to donate everything to try to help the most vulnerable people. ”
PAHO has called on donors and partners to expand the capacity of the countries of the Americas to respond to COVID-19. The response strategy has two main objectives: to stop the transmission of the virus and to mitigate the health impact of COVID-19 in the Region. $ 94.8 million is initially needed to support critical response efforts in the countries that need aid the most through September 2020.
