On 11 April 2024, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) published information on the severe weather in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Georgia. In Louisiana, one shelter was opened housing seven people, four people were reported as injured and 48,000 people are without power. In Mississippi, several roads were closed, the emergency operations center was partially activated, and there were six injured persons and one death reported. Wildfires

Guatemala

On 9 April 2024, the Guatemala National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) issued a state of calamity due to the wildfires in the country. According to CONRED, more than 40 wildfires are active and a total of 7,376 acres were affected. Of the 40 active wildfires, 37 have placed thousands of families at risk. The Ministry of Education of Guatemala has suspended classes for 11 April 2024 in the departments of Guatemala, Escuintla, and Sacatepéquez due to concerns regarding air quality, which may pose health risks.
