Panama

On 8 September 2024, the Panama National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC per its acronym in Spanish) published information heavy rains causing flooding in the district of Colón, with the sectors of Villa Guadalupe, Vista Alegre, Sabanitas, María Chiquita, Barrio Sur, and Quebrada Bonita affected. Wildfires

 

Bolivia (Update)

On 9 September 2024, the Bolivia Ministry of Defense (MINDEF per its acronym in Spanish) reported the government declared a state of emergency on 8 September due to the severity of wildfires. Between 8 April and 9 September, the Ministry of Health and Sports of Bolivia provided 6,328 health services to populations affected by the wildfires, with 6,013 in the department of Santa Cruz, 271 in Beni, and 44 in Pando. MINDEF reported on 9 September the arrival of 60 Brazilian firefighters to assist in combating the wildfires in Bolivia. Media is reporting that 3.8 million acres have been affected by the fires. United States of America (Update)

On 9 September 2024, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) published updated information on wildfires in the states of Oregon, Nevada, and California. FEMA reports 6,500 acres were burned in Washoe County, Nevada, with 9,000 mandatory evacuations issued and 14 homes destroyed. In San Bernardino County, California, 17,459 acres were burned and 6,112 mandatory evacuations were issued. The report is available from: FEMA
