Hurricane Milton

On 9 October 2024, The United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reported that Hurricane Milton, is forecast to make landfall along the west coast of Florida as a major hurricane. In the state of Florida, 26 counties reported evacuation warnings (15 increase since the 8 October), of which, 15 were mandatory evacuations. There were 149 shelters opened housing 31,005 people. The Government has prepared 525 ambulances, 31 paratransit, and 6 air staged. A total of 300 health care facilities were evacuated. On 9 October, the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration’s National Hurricane Center (NOAA-NHC) issued an advisory that Milton is approaching the Coast of West-Central Florida, life-threatening storm surge, damaging winds, and flooding rains expected across portions of central and southwestern Florida.
