Landslide

Peru (Update)

On 9 February 2023, the Civil Protection of Peru (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish), provided information on severe weather that has caused landslides in the Department of Arequipa. According to the report, the affected locations were Miski, San Martín, Secocha, and Urasqui in the district of Mariano Nicolas Valcárcel. There have been 16 deaths reported (1 increase since the prior report), 27 people injured (7 increase since the prior report), and 20 people are missing. Wildfire 

Chile (Update)

On 8 February 2023, the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (SENAPRED per its acronym in Spanish), provided an update on the wildfires in the south-central zone of the country. A total of 326 wildfires remain active (46 increase since the prior report), of these, 186 were under control. Additionally, 1,180 homes were destroyed (21 increase since the prior report). Shelters were housing 889 people (decrease of 104). The report is available at: SENAPRED
