Tropical Storm/ Hurricane Rafael

Cuba (Update)

On 8 November 2024, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), reported that Hurricane Rafael, a Category 3 storm, had passed over Cuba on 6 November 2024. According to the information, significant damage was reported in the agricultural sector in the provinces of Mayabeque and Artemisa, which supplies a substantial portion of the food to the country’s capital. Media is reporting that the power system has collapsed after the passage of the hurricane and that more than 98,000 people were evacuated in La Habana, the capital of the country. On 7 November 2024, the Government of the municipality of Bogotá in Colombia, reported at least 210 child were evacuated and 180 vehicles were affected due to severe weather in the form of heavy rain. On 8 November 2024, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided information on the wildfire situation in Ventura, in the state of California, United States.
