Guyana (Update) 

On 8 June, the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) reported heavy rains and flooding in Guyana over the past 14 days that has affected at least 7,900 households across the country. The Civil Defense Commission (CDC) of Guyana has provided almost 30,000 food and cleaning hampers across the most affected Regions (Five, Six, Nine, and Ten) and has provided shelter for those impacted in Regions Nine and Ten. On 8 June, media reported that due to heavy rains four rivers; the Telembi, Inguapi, Guaspi, and Telpi overflowed affecting 1,500 families in the municipalities of Barbacoas and Roberto Payán. Preliminary damage assessments indicate 45 villages and 24 sectors of the urban area of Barbacoas were affected by the flooding. An estimated 1,000 families were affected in the area, additionally, homes, crops, pig farms, and fishing farms sustained damages. Humanitarian aid is being provided by the municipal Administration, Civil Defense, Firefighters, and personnel from the Risk Management office. The report is available at: El Universal.
