Guatemala (Update)
On 7 August 2023, the Guatemala National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) published an update on the rainy season in the country. There have been 566 severe rain weather incidents reported (19 increase since the 4 August report). At least 1,477,991 people were affected (25,005 increase), 18,343 people were attended to (403 increase), 4,281 people were evacuated (57 increase) and 8,820 people are considered at risk (94 increase). There were 3,030 homes moderately affected (68 increase) and 113 (3 increase) severe damaged. Additionally, the Ministry of Health of Guatemala, on 4 August 2023, issued an institutional red alert due to effects of El Niño phenomenon, as part of the response and prevention actions for the assistance to the population.
