On 6 March 2023, the Department of National Emergency of Paraguay (SEN per its acronym in Spanish), provided information on severe weather that has caused the increase in water flow in the district of San Cosme y San Damián, Department of Itapúa. According to SEN there were 400 families affected and in the Department of Concepción active evacuations of families affected by the flooding was ongoing. Additionally, media reported at least 20,000 families were affected due to the severe weather in the departments of Concepción, Amambay, Alto Paraguai, and Presidente Hayes.
