On 6 June 2023, Ecuador Officials provided updated information on heavy rains affecting the canton of Esmeraldas. According to the information, 6 rivers overflowed across the cantons of Atacames, Esmeraldas, Quinindé and Muisne. There were 14,186 people affected (2,420 increase since the 5 June report) and 842 people sheltered (752 increase).
