On 5 September 2023, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) published an update on the passage of Hurricane Idalia. In the state of Florida, 6 shelters were opened (decrease of 2 since the 1 September report) with 128 occupants (5 decrease), and 18,000 people were without power (79,000 decrease). On 4 September 2023, the state Government of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, published information on the heavy rains in the state. The situation room of the state informed that the regions with risk of flooding are the Caí and Taquari valleys. There were 278 people displaced and 4 deaths reported. In addition, there were 20 homes affected in the municipality of Passo Fundo, 40 homes in the municipality of Sarandi, 20 homes in the municipality of Lajeado do Bugre, 30 homes in the municipality of Ibiraiaras, 5 homes in the municipality of Boa Vista das Missões, 30 homes in the municipality of São Jorge, and 35 homes in the municipality of Nova Bassano.
