On 6 February 2025, the Recife City Hall, in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil, declared a maximum alert in the municipality due to heavy rains and has closed schools. According to the Brazilian Communication Agency (EBC, per its Portuguese acronym), six people have died as a result of the severe weather. Additionally, media reports indicate that over 100 people have been displaced. Additionally, EBC reported three fatalities and 30 displaced individuals in Maceió, a municipality in the state of Alagoas.
