Wildfire

Chile (Update)

On 6 February 2024, the Chile Ministry of the Interior and Civil Protection (SENAPRED per its acronym in Spanish) published updated information regarding the wildfire Chile. According to the update, 85 homes were destroyed (2 increase since the 5 February report) in the regions of O’Higgins (n=73), Maule (n=3), La Araucanía (n=7), Los Lagos (n=2), and additional five homes were affected (1 increase). There were 94 people affected (4 increase) in the regions of O’Higgins (n=73), Maule (n=9), La Araucanía (n=8), Los Lagos (4 increase), and 123 deaths have been reported (11 increase) in the region of Valparaíso. United States of America (Update)

On 6 February 2024, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided information on the heavy rains in the state of California, the United States of America. According to the information, 950 mandatory evacuations (2,210 decrease since the 5 February report) remain in effect for the counties of Los Angeles (n=399) and San Bernardino (n=551). Additionally, 4 deaths (unknown cause) were reported (1 increase). A total of 153,000 customers remain without power (378,000 decrease). The report is available from: FEMA

Brazil (Update)

On 5 February 2024, the Government of the State of Bahia, provided an update regarding the heavy rains that affected the state. According to the information, a total of 9,751 people were displaced (2,415 increase since the 2 February report), six deaths were reported (1 increase) and 117,000 people were affected (30,00 increase). Additionally, 34 municipalities were affected (2 increase).
