On 4 January 2024, the Risk Management Secretariat of Ecuador published a press release regarding a landslide caused by heavy rains in the in the sector of La Cascada, Carchi Province. According to the press release, 7 people were rescued, 5 were injured, 2 people are missing and 1 death was reported. In addition, 32 people were affected (8 families) and 2 homes were destroyed. Peru
On 5 January 2024, the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish) provided information on the heavy rains in the department of Huánuco. According to the information, in the province of Dos de Mayo, in the district of Ripán, 58 people were affected, 12 homes and the water service were affected.
