United States of America (Update)

On 5 January 2023, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), provided an update regarding flooding in Northern California caused by an atmospheric river. According to the report, 4 deaths were reported (1 increase since the prior report), and mandatory evacuations were issued in Sacramento, Calaveras, San Mateo, and Santa Barbara (new). The governor has declared a State of Emergency. In addition, 24 shelters were opened (22 increase since the prior report), housing 240 people (228 increase since the prior report), and there were 181,000 people without power (171,000 increase since the prior report).
